Project overview
The client had contracted Gulf Sands General Contracting LLC for a temporary seawater intake system for feeding the high-capacity submersible pumps for the chilled water system required for the LNG Plant.
The greatest challenge lay in the fact that the pumps were installed on the beach, and their suction pipes had to be drawn 150m into the sea, to remain at least 2-3m below the seawater level during low tide. Using 2 numbers each of 12” and 18” Cornell pumps, we achieved the required flow of 6500 m3/hr. The client was extremely satisfied with the job, though mildly surprised by the Suction-Lift capabilities of the pump-sets.
